Build with Intention

A common issue I notice in growing companies is that, while communication exists, it often lacks intentional design. Communication tends to develop spontaneously—media relations form here, internal updates happen there, the CEO might share on LinkedIn, and product launches get their announcements.
Companies that excel take a different approach by building their communications around three core pillars:
1. Narrative Engine
This serves as the organization’s guiding story—explaining what the company is building, why it matters, and how it relates to broader industry trends. Without this central narrative, individual announcements feel disconnected. The narrative should also support both leadership visibility and the cultivation of trust.
2. Trust Builder
Trust grows through consistent executive presence, engaging with the media, and open communication with employees and stakeholders. Whether with the public or within closer relationships, trust comes from following through on commitments - both big and small - and consistently demonstrating your values during key milestones.
3. Signal Amplifier
When the company hits important milestones, effective communication ensures these achievements reach the widest appropriate audience - not by increasing volume, but by maximizing reach.

Ultimately, the distinction between tactical and strategic communications lies not in activity, but in thoughtful design. When planned carefully, communications can become a key capability that drives growth, strengthens reputation, and enhances leadership presence at the same time.
